Many thanks to all the donators who supported the Phuket Direct Fund with 321,000 CHF. To date 253,000 Swiss francs have been made available for direct emergency aid in Phuket and the surrounding area. Everywhere that the major aid organizations were unable to get to – or get to quickly enough – the Phuket Direct Fund helped local people to help themselves and supported a targeted group of projects for reconstruction and for the benefit of orphans and other children and young people in need.

So far, no donations have been received in 2008. The current account balance per end of February 2008 is 68,000 CHF.

Award for relief work

On the 7 of April 2006, the Rotary Club of Pantong Beach was honored by the prime ministers office and received an honorary award for the Tsunami relief work rendered.

The Rotary Club of Patong Beach provided emergency aid in a variety of projects and was supported by the Phuket Direct Fund with 45,500 CHF.

The Rotary Club is very proud of this award and it shows to all supporters that the donations received were put forward to those in need without waste.
